The Baker University bowling team claimed a third-place finish on Sunday at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge in Lawrence.

The Wildcats tallied a team total of 5,566 points, falling only behind Wichita State University and Lindenwood University. Senior Brittani Kelly led BU with a fourth-place finish and an average score of 196 points. Junior Carly Schmidtlein followed right after in fifth place and an average score of 193 points.

Baker opened its season with a fifth-place finish at the Mid-States Intercollegiate Bowling Tournament on Oct. 12-13 in Wichita.

Schmidtlein placed 19th out of 119 bowlers and currently averages 185 points per game. Kelly leads BU with a 188 average.

Baker will bowl again on Saturday and Sunday at the ISYL Leatherneck Classic in Davenport, Iowa.
