Men’s cross country team takes second in Southern Stampede

Both men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the Missouri Southern Stampede Saturday. The men finished second in the 8K behind Highland Community College. The women’s team placed ninth in the 5K.

Junior Joseph Linder led the men’s team with an eighth-place finish and a time of 26:37. Freshman Greg Flores rounded out the top 10 with a time of 26:44. Senior Jamie Steury placed in the top 25 for the men’s team in 23rd.

On the women’s side, freshman Janeane Hernandez finished on top for the Wildcats again in 16th place with a time of 19:56. She was the only Wildcat to place in the top 25. Senior Shelby Stephens and junior Bailey Horlander finished in the top 50 with 40th and 47th places, respectively.

The next race for the Wildcats will be the Oklahoma State Jamboree on Saturday in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
