The Baker University women’s golf team rounded out its spring season by tying for second place at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships Monday and Tuesday in Booneville, Mo.
The Wildcats trailed Avila University by six strokes after Monday’s round with junior Bristol Brandt being the team’s low scorer. The Eagles did not surrender their lead and went on to win the tournament, but BU senior Stacy Yowell earned a top-five overall finish.
Prior to the women’s HAAC Championships, the men’s and women’s golf teams had a solid two days of play April 25-26 at the Alvamar Golf Course in Lawrence at its home tournament.
The women brought home a second place finish, led by Yowell, who also placed second individually.
The men’s team finished third, led by junior Mason Dick, who took eighth place overall.
Avila placed one above the Wildcats on both men’s and women’s sides.
The men’s HAAC tournament begins May 6 in Ozark, Mo., at the Millwood Golf Course.
“We know where we are and we know what we have to do to win conference,” Exon said. “If we accomplish that it’ll be really great. If we don’t, we know we’ve done the best we can.”
