The Baker University women’s basketball team had a tough, hard-fought weekend in Ottawa, followed up by a tough night against Rogers State University.
The Wildcats took two losses at the Ottawa Classic, first to the Ottawa University Braves, followed by a nail-biter to Park University.
The ’Cats fell to Ottawa 65-61 and lost to Park 62-59. Baker then had to travel to Claremore, Okla. to take on Rogers State and fell 85-63.
Head coach Ben Lister thinks fixing slow starts is the key to getting the Wildcats turned around.
“For us, it’s been a problem starting games,” Lister said. “We were down 15 against Ottawa. (Tuesday against Rogers State) we were down 19-2 at one point. So, starting off well has been a real problem for us.”
The Wildcats now look ahead to William Woods University, a team Lister says will be a good challenge for the ’Cats.
Baker will play William Woods at 2 p.m. Saturday in Columbia, Mo.
