Baker women win at Culver-Stockton

The Baker women avenged a previous loss to Culver-Stockton College on Jan. 9 with a 61-43 victory over CSC on Saturday afternoon in Canton, Missouri. Culver’s inefficiency to make shots, as well as Baker’s defense, kept the CSC Wildcats out of the game the entire way.

The Baker women showed why they’re one of the best defensive teams in the Heart of America Athletic Conference in a 89-53 win over the Evangel Crusaders on Wednesday night in the Collins Center. The BU defense shut down every aspect of the Crusaders’ offensive game from the opening tip as the Wildcats cruised to their seventh win in eight games in conference play.

After turning the ball over 25 times in their 65-54 loss to MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday, the Wildcats responded with a 65-39 win over the Avila Eagles on Wednesday night in the Collins Center. Senior Macy Wallisch led the Wildcats with her first career triple-double, scoring 10 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking 11 shots.

The Baker women’s basketball team responded from back-to-back losses with a dominant 71-46 win over William Penn University Monday Night in the Collins Center. The Wildcats improved to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play starting the toughest week of the season with three games in six days.

After moving up to No. 21 in the NAIA rankings, the women’s basketball team dropped both of its games this week. The women lost to Central Methodist 81-72 on Wednesday in Fayette, Missouri, and followed that up with a loss to Culver-Stockton on Saturday afternoon in Baldwin City.

After a 90-60 win over the Graceland Yellow Jackets Saturday in Lamoni, Iowa, the women’s basketball team finishes its first semester of basketball at 9-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Wildcats, who are tied for the second in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, have 21 days in between games with their next action on Jan. 2.

On one of Baker athletics’ most historic days with three NAIA playoff home victories, the No. 23 women’s basketball team lost its first game of the season. The Wildcats fell 69-66 to the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers on Saturday in the Collins Center and failed to snap a three-game losing streak to MNU.
