Misunderstood, misjudged, and mistreated, Native American culture is wildly misinterpreted. American Indians have been fighting to recover what was once sacred for years.
To those who are uneducated about what it means to be Native the idea of “recovering the sacred” is vague. That’s why I decided to write this blog. I want to give my readers a small insight into my culture, and all that comes with it.
Moccasins, teepees and headdresses, are just some of the trite, mainstream icons of what being an Indian means to most people. These misconceptions could not be further from the truth. There are over 500 federally recognized tribes in the United States, and each is extremely different from another. Every tribe has its own beliefs, traditions, diet, ceremony, and much more.
I am a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and so most of my blogs will pertain to my tribe. My goal is to give a new perspective to all my readers about the Cherokee Nation.
