Sitting one night enjoying some hot cocoa, I decided to cuddle up in my favorite bean bag chair and enjoy some lovely Irish music provided to me by the newly acquired Once soundtrack (if you haven’t heard of Once, I am very sad for you, so here is a link to a song from the movie a song from the movie.. a song from the movie.
As I was enjoying my music, I started to think: Are there any other pleasantly harmonious groups out there that might be to my fancy? After some Google searching, I stumbled upon a list of bands that seemed promising, and decided to click on the one with a song title I had no hope of pronouncing: Mykonos by Fleet Foxes.
It opened with a simple melody on an acoustic guitar, then slowly incorporated a harmony that made my ears extremely happy. The song reminded me of nature-y things like hiking through the woods or finding a lake in the middle of nowhere.
I was in folk music heaven.
I proceeded to look up the rest of their self-titled album Fleet Foxes, and became enthralled by the simple “White Winter Hymnal”, as well as the enticing “Drops in the River”.
Like every band I’ve described on my blog so far, words can only do them some justice. If you really want to know how amazing this band is, you’ll have to listen to them yourself.
So, I present to you, my fellow indie-lovers, Fleet Foxes.
