Members of the Baker University Student Senate met Tuesday, and Student Senate President Warren Swenson talked about a proposed draft of the mission statement for the College and Arts and Sciences.
The mission statement is being reevaluated because the Higher Learning Commission is coming to reaccredit the university in November.
“The current college mission is really long and drawn out … this one is a lot more simple,” Swenson said.
A number of students brought up that the mission doesn’t mention anything about confidence, which is part of the university’s motto, “Own Confidence.”
Erin Joyce, assistant dean of liberal studies, will speak Tuesday to give a more in-depth explanation of the new general education program that will be implemented next year.
