At the final Baker University Student Senate meeting of the fall semester on Dec. 7, Vice President Erica Vest announced that a micro grant of $500 was given to the Union Renovation Committee.
“It came from a gift from the president’s fund,” Dean of Students Cassy Bailey said.
The grant money will be used to help the committee pay for travel expenses to view other universities’ unions and other travel expenses.
“I’m thrilled that we’re going to be able to see other unions,” Bailey said. “We’ve looked at something called the Association of Colleges and Unions to look at their . . . booklets and pamphlets and references.”
The committee will be looking at the unions of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, Mo., which recently won an award for its union, and Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.
