Kardashians keep it real

Story by Heidi Jo Hayen, Writer

There are two things about the Kardashians that people need to realize. First, they aren’t going anywhere any time soon and second, they aren’t as dumb as everyone thinks.

The world was first introduced to the Kardashians during the O.J. Simpson trial. The late father of the famous clan was a lawyer on O.J.’s “Dream Team” during the ’90s.

At this point, the matriarch of the family, Kris Jenner, had already moved on to be with Olympic champion Bruce Jenner.

In 2007, during the first airing of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, America got to look into the crazy lives of the family many have come to either know and love or know and hate.

Almost instantly it seemed that viewers formed very strong opinions of the California family. The thing is, Keeping Up with Kardashians is reality TV, and in my opinion they are the most real family on television. They tell each other like it is and always voice their own opinions on family matters.

When you think about it, isn’t that what all of us do? We are our truest self around our family and can express ourselves freely without being judged like we might be in public.

Their show is filmed outside of the public eye. Most of the scenes take place in the various Kardashian, Jenner and West households. What we see of the Kardashians/Jenners is how they act out of the public eye when they can actually let their guard down.

Just take a moment and think about all the crazy things that might be filmed of your family if you had a camera following you around 24/7. Everybody has the potential to be bratty or spoiled when it comes to hanging out with their family; this family is no exception.

What really bothers me is when people say none of them are smart. Excuse me, let’s not forget the millions of dollars this family makes every year. Not all of that money is just given to them through endorsements. Each one of the Kardashian/Jenner gang has made a name for himself or herself in the business world.

Khloé, Kourtney, and Kim opened their first store, DASH, in 2006, and the business continues to grow still today. They also have a line of children’s clothes sold at Babies-R-Us.

Rob Kardashian, the often forgotten brother of the Kardashian/Jenner sisters, has his own line of socks sold at various department stores throughout the United States.

Let’s not forget about Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Kendall has landed herself several modeling gigs, including the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. As for Kylie, the baby of the family, she has started her own line of cosmetics, quickly selling out of her lip-gloss sets hours after the product release.

Those are just a few of the business endeavors that the Kardashians/Jenners have taken on over the years, and none of it would have happened without the world’s most famous “Mom-ager,” Kris Jenner. She is always there to support her children in their personal and work lives and always fights for what is in their best interest.
