The ‘Cats capitalized against a weaker Culver-Stockton team Oct. 9, winning the match in four games: 30-22, 30-23, 21-30 and 30-18. Junior Alexis Pryor was a dominant force in the front row, leading all hitters with 17 kills. Freshman Brooke Pryor added 10 kills with four blocks on the night. Senior Katie Jaschke shut down Culver-Stockton hitters after posting nine blocks on the night. Junior Jayde Allen controlled the back row with 18 digs followed by sophomore Sarah Laha with 15.
Baker was unable to carry its momentum to Salina Oct. 11, losing to non-conference Kansas Wesleyan. In four close games, the ‘Cats were never able to find steady rhythm. Alexis Pryor led the team with 16 kills as Allen collected 16 digs on the night. Junior Whitney Segrist contributed 46 assists and Maci Harshbarger led from behind the line with three service aces.
The ‘Cats look to next make their mark in HAAC play today when they will take on a strong Lindenwood team at 7 p.m. in Collins Center. The Lions are undefeated in conference and are nationally ranked at No. 13.
