The Wildcats’ baseball opening weekend was a rough one.
Baker University played four games total, one against Ottawa University and three against Rogers State University. The Wildcats picked up a 9-2 victory against Ottawa, but fell in all three games against Rogers State.
“Rogers State baseball team, they’re a pretty good baseball team, and they’re a very good hitting team,” head coach Phil Hannon said.
Junior Chris Cummins started the season by getting a win against Ottawa, recording 10 strikeouts and allowing five hits in seven innings.
Hannon said he felt the games were a good learning experience for some of the newer members to the team.
“We still have work to do,” Hannon said. “My hope for the rest of the season is that we continue to get better each game, that we continue to work toward a team effort.”
