Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not step out on an NFL field until October after being suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
ESPN.com reported Roethlisberger will also have to complete a behavioral evaluation before he can participate in offseason workouts after he was accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old in March. The suspension could be reduced to four games after Goodell studies Roethlisberger’s progress with the behavior evaluation.
Roethlisberger’s suspension is the first Goodell has given for someone who violated the personal conduct policy, yet was not charged or arrested for a crime.
The Steelers' seventh game of the season will be against defending champion New Orleans Saints Oct. 31. <br/>&#160;
