Recently, the NCAA landscape has begun to change.
Colleges from the Big East Conference are jumping ship to the Atlantic Coastal Conference, the Mountain West Conference is looking to merge with the Big East, and Big 12 schools are stuck right in the middle of the realignment.
The University of Missouri and Texas A&M University are going to the Southeastern Conference just to receive more money and constantly be hazed in every sport besides basketball.
In all seriousness, who really pays attention to SEC basketball, because they are the junior varsity of college basketball? The schools remaining in the Big 12 are scrambling to find a conference to join. Colleges like the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and Iowa State University are begging to receive an invitation to join the Big 10, the Mountain West or the Big East.
Other colleges, such as the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, the University of Texas and Texas Tech University, are searching for a place to call home after the PAC12 said it has no intention on extending any more invites for other schools to join.
But I have a reasonable, simple solution to solve the problems for the Big 12.
Two words. Southwest Conference.
The Southwest Conference formerly consisted of Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor University, the University of Houston, Texas Tech, Southern Methodist University, Rice University and the University of Arkansas.
My solution is for the Southwest Conference to come back together, but for it to keep the Big 12 name and some teams. Since Texas A&M is leaving to receive a beat down every week in the SEC from teams like Louisiana State University and the University of Alabama in football, and Missouri getting blacklisted by the SEC, my vote is for the Big 12 to extend a vote for Arkansas to join, so it can stop being abused in the SEC and finally have a chance to win again.
Arkansas should be required to bring back Lou Holtz as the head football coach so America can finally understand what is being said on ESPN on Saturday afternoons. Kick out Rice and Houston and add Texas Christian University, which has already accepted the invite to join the Big 12. Then, the Big 12 would consist of Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech, SMU, TCU, Arkansas and Baylor. And why not throw in wildcard Boise State University.
See, simple and reasonable.
