The Baker University track and field teams had eight first-place finishes at the Friends University Invitational Saturday in Wichita.

Freshman JaBryanna Wellington finished first in the 400-meter dash and senior Aubree Gustin placed first in the javelin throw.

The Wildcats also won the 4×100 and 4×400-meter relays.

Freshman Ariella Harrison participated in the 4×400-meter relay and finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.47.

“It’s incredible (to make an impact as a freshman),” Harrison said. “We are kind of making a big name, and I like the idea that we are stepping up to the plate.”

The men’s team had first-place finishes from senior Aaron Hannon in the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Jeremy Gathright in the triple jump, senior Jason Robbs in the hammer throw and junior Jeremiah Korn in the shot put.
