Baker’s track teams ended the indoor season by sending four athletes to the NAIA National Championships March 4-6 in Johnson City, Tenn.
Senior Kayla Irwin, pole vault, and junior Carrie Lister, shot put, competed for the women’s team while senior Brian Korn, shot put and weight throw, and sophomore J.L. Anderson, 60-meter hurdles, competed for the men’s squad.
Head coach Zach Kindler said he was not disappointed in the results, but the athletes didn’t compete as well as they could have.
“At the national meet, you can’t have a bad meet because everybody’s just as good or better than you are,” Kindler said. “It’ll be good for them to really keep them focused and motivated for the outdoor season.”
The Wildcats will travel to Central Methodist University for the CMU Open March 20 in Fayette, Mo., to kick off the start of the outdoor season.
