The Baker Orange

Phillips highlights top photos from his college career

Senior defensive back Avery Parker is embraced by his family after the Wildcats' 45-41 comeback win in the NAIA-FCS semifinal game against Eastern Oregon on Dec. 3, 2016, at Liston Stadium. Baker overcame a 17-point deficit in the final five minutes to advance to the championship game in Daytona Beach, Florida. After four years of photographing Baker sports, this is easily the moment of all moments. Just when everyone started to think it was over for good, Baker defeated all odds. Rushing the field with all the other screaming, crying, overwhelmed fans was an experience I’ll never forget. I’m honored to say this photo went on to win the Society of Professional Journalists’ national photography contest in the sports photography division in May 2017.
