The Holt-Russell Gallery's final showing of the semester is the culmination of the knowledge seniors Kelsey Kimberlin and Amy Gudenkauf have received and the techniques they have honed at Baker University. Kimberlin said her collection of digital photographs is something she has been considering since she has been a bartender at a strip club.

The indoor track season doesn't start until January, but the team is already conditioning in hopes of sending more athletes to the national tournament than the five it sent last year. "This is the fastest team, most athletic team and a team that gets along well with one another," head coach Rob Mallinder said.

After a nail-biting last minute, the Baker University men's basketball team defeated Ottawa University for the second time in as many weeks. Senior D.J. Watkins threw up a last-second pull-up jumper and put the 'Cats up 74-73 in the last seconds of Monday's game.

This week, audiences were able to enjoy various types of music as the Symphonic Winds performed Tuesday, while the jazz ensemble performed Thursday and is hosting a jazz festival with a 12:30 p.m. performance. Jazz Ensemble Director J.D. Parr said Thursday was the jazz ensemble's first formal concert, which was meant to be an opening event for today's jazz festival.

No matter where you go, it's good to have friends with you. A small community like Baker University's provides the opportunity for the development of close personal friendships and relationships simply because everyone is in such close physical proximity.

The Wildcats came out of the starting gate on fire winning two games in the Baker Classic Friday and Saturday but were unable to start a streak losing to Sterling College Tuesday in the Collins Center. With the 'Cats only suiting up six returning players, head coach Susan Decker said she was somewhat surprised by the start of her inexperienced team.

The Shore Weight Room was reopened Nov. 2 after a two-month closing to clean the mold underneath the floor. The new floor, which Athletic Director Dan Harris said is made of a high-level quality of rubber, was put in by large strips, as opposed to the squares the old floor was laid in.

Last weekend, the women's basketball team won two games, the men's basketball team won a game, the cross country team hosted a regional meet and the volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament. Did you catch any of the action? Unless you were one of the Wildcat diehard supporters who found the way to the Collins Center or the Baldwin City Municipal Golf Course, I doubt you did.

Though they came from different walks of faith and spirituality, about 20 people gathered on the common ground of South Park in Lawrence to gain inspiration for helping the poor in Douglas County. According to an invitational letter written by Lawrence Community Interfaith Initiative Coordinator Steve Ozark, Sunday's event was convocation to help initiate ideas and discussions to aid those living in poverty.

Though they may not experience a typical weekend, about 92 students have registered to get a glimpse of what Baker University has to offer.
