An informational meeting about starting a chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, a historically black fraternity, at Baker University was scheduled for Thursday, Residence Life Coordinator Henderson Hill said. Hill, an active member of the fraternity, said when he started work at Baker, he made it a point to not mention his fraternity connection.

Look, up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. It's... OK, no. He looks nothing like a bird or a plane. And, with an orange polo and khaki shorts instead of a cape, he probably can't fly. But Baldwin City resident Ande Parks is very familiar with those who can.

I love infomercials. I say this with pride, as not only do they aid with my insomnia, but they also are masters in marketing. They allow an individual a chance to see new and questionable products available for purchase, enabling the economy and nation we live in to keep truckin'.

The Baker University Lifeless Language Association will be hosting a Circus Maximus event Saturday in the Collins Center parking lot. The events will begin with a chariot race using Radio Flyer wagons at 1 p.m. Other events include a foot race at 2 p.m. and a gladitorial fight at 3 p.

Five students were scheduled to join Alpha Psi Omega, Baker University's honorary theater society, Thursday to complete the society's initiation week. Sophomore Ashley Pike said she was extremely honored to receive a bid for initiation. "I'm excited to be involved," Pike said.

Students to enroll in BU summer school

While some Baker University students kick up their feet and relax this summer, many will be continuing their education for a couple of months as they enroll in a number of summer school courses. Director of Records Ruth Miller said she still expects many more students to enroll.

Jacob Lawrence to present art show at BU during Baldwin civil war event

This summer Baker University's Holt/Russell Gallery will be home to an exhibit by artist Jacob Lawrence. The exhibit consists of Lawrence's "The John Brown Series" which are 22 prints organized by the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in Wilberforce, Ohio.

A tornado tore through Lawrence March 12, ruining numerous buildings. 60 percent of the University of Kansas' buildings were damaged, which devastated many wedding couples plans of marriage on KU's campus.
