Ryan Pitts named track and field coach

The third head coach vacancy in the Baker Athletic Department has been filled. Director of Athletics Theresa Yetmar named Ryan Pitts the new head track and field coach. Pitts will serve as the head coach and will work with Tim Byers, who will be the director of cross country and track and field.

Track teams sweep conference titles

The men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams their respective won Heart of America Athletic Conference championships May 2. These titles just go on top of the dynasty that the late coach Zach Kindler started at Baker. This marks the fifth-straight conference title for the men’s team and the fourth-straight for the women’s team.

The Baker track and field team hosted the Zach Kindler Wildcat Open April 25 at Liston Stadium. This event will become an annual meet, named in honor of late track head coach Zach Kindler, who died last summer.

Women third, men fourth at William Jewell track meet

The women’s track and field team finished in third place and the men in fourth place at the Gourley Open hosted by William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, April 10-11. Both teams were competing within a mixed group of competition varying from NCAA Division II to community colleges.

The Baker University track and field teams excelled in the 74th Annual Baker Relays. The women won with 275.5 points and the men won with 274 points on the day at their first home outdoor meet of the season on April 4 at Liston Stadium.

The Baker outdoor track and field teams trampled over the competition at the Wildcat Open on April 26. Both teams beat out McPherson College for the top spots. The men won with a score of 121.5 and the women racked up a whopping 202 points throughout the day.
