After a 70-63 loss to the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers on Thursday in the Collins Center the women’s basketball team overcame a 1-for-17 game from three-point range to defeat the Central Methodist Eagles 63-54 on Saturday in Fayette, Missouri.

The Baker women’s basketball team had a three-game winning streak snapped in a 69-66 loss to the Missouri Valley Vikings on Saturday in Marshall, Missouri. Baker finished with 18 turnovers and a season low 7-20 from the free throw line.

Women’ basketball takes consecutive 20-point wins

The women’s basketball team is back on track after two conference wins of at least 20 points this past week. The Wildcats defeated the Avila University Eagles 66-45 on Jan. 15 at the Collins Center and then rolled the Evangel University Crusaders 78-56 two days later in Springfield, Missouri.

The No. 21 women’s basketball team suffered its second conference loss in a row on Saturday afternoon against Culver-Stockton 57-55. This is the first time Baker has lost two consecutive conference games since February 2013.

The 10th-ranked women’s basketball team swept two games in the HAAC/KCAC Challenge in Leavenworth. The Wildcats beat Ottawa 79-57 on Nov. 14 and then overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Saint Mary 67-63 on Nov. 15.

The No. 12 Baker University women’s basketball team will make its first NAIA national tournament appearance at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Frankfort, Ky. Baker will face the 23rd-ranked University of the Cumberlands Patriots, who made the national tournament for the 14th time in the program’s history.
