The recent changes and additions to Greek Week can only be described as overdue. In the past few years, Greek Week has mainly consisted of the Mr. BU pageant, a picnic and little else. While the pageant is certainly an anticipated event for many students, two events hardly constitutes a week.

Imagine a baseball game with infinite innings, a tennis match with infinite sets or a round of golf with infinite holes - just as those examples illustrate an endless undertaking, the recruiting process at Baker University is a continuous endeavor to find better athletes and better students.

Making the movie buff

Baker University students interested in film studies will be able to take advantage of a new minor next fall. Cinema Studies will require 15 semester hours including four core classes and at least one production course. Director of Cinema Studies Mark Kirk said the minor would expand on existing and proposed cinema courses.

Theater production features 2 actors

Baker University's play production, "A Walk in the Woods," takes a leap from the 'norm,' as it only has two characters. As it was the director's choice, Director Bruce Woodruff said the play is both challenging and enjoyable. "(Directors) have a luxury here at Baker," Woodruff said.

Getting out is hard to do

With the excitement, eagerness and envy of being a senior, also comes the seemingly everlasting senior seminar projects brought on by the different majors here at Baker University. As the three years seem to fly by for the majority of this year's seniors, the one thing stopping them from continuing with their flight is the variety of long-term projects.

Finding Nemo

Douglas County State Lake is now dry in more ways than one. Chris Lecuyer, an assistant manager for Kansas Wildlife and Parks, said on Jan. 1 prohibition went into effect at the lake, which was drained in October to allow repairs and maintenance on the dam.

Senioritis is rampant at Baker, and not just among seniors.? I think it is fair to say many students are getting burned out on school, and although that last final exam on May 18 is drawing near, it is still too far away to taste.? I understand this feeling, I really do.

Wildcats finish 6-0 in?HAAC

The Baker University women's tennis team ended conference play with the ideal outcome Tuesday.??The women became the Heart of America Athletic Conference champions after a 7-2 victory over Benedictine College. The Cats' ended their regular season play with a record of 13-1 and went undefeated in conference play.

Osness to take over P.E. dept.

Wayne Osness will be taking Athletic Director Dan Harris's place as the new physical education department chair next year. Harris is currently both department chair and athletic director. "The decision came in 2005 when we decided to have an outside consultant come in and assess the department," he said.

McLenon reflects on BU college career

For those among us who will be graduating, our entire lives have led to this moment. We are faced with the question of what comes next. Some of us will find jobs, some of us will find careers. Others will continue their educations, while some will move home with mom and dad and wonder why they were ever in such a hurry to get out of college.

To Baker University, the CDC is not the agency intent on exterminating the avian flu, it is the Career Development Center. "Our goal is to educate students regarding careers, internships and job opportunities," Susan Wade, director of the CDC, said.? "We tend to act as a broker between employers and students and bring them together.

Johnston: Large freshman class expected

With another large freshman class expected, Baker University's faculty and staff will be working hard to make sure there are enough classes to accommodate all the students. Lisa Johnston, assistant dean of student academic services, said compared to this time last year, Baker is ahead in the number of people who have expressed interest in the university and who have already signed up for one of the summer enrollment dates.
