Director of Greek Life Bryan VanOsdale said he is pleased with the results of his first recruitment process at Baker University.
“I think sorority recruitment was very successful,” he said. “Everybody got matched up, and that’s ultimately what you want. It’s a huge indicator that women are happy, and now they have the opportunity to go out there and do phenomenal things.”
With 72 bids given out, VanOsdale said three out of the four sororities met the quota of 17. The Delta Delta Delta and Alpha Chi Omega sororities each received 19 new members, while the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and the Phi Mu sorority received 17 and 12 women.
Megan Lamb, Alpha Chi Omega sorority president, said she’s happy her sorority met quota.
“We’re very excited about the numbers, but more importantly, we’re excited about the girls that make up our freshman class,” she said.
On the men’s side, VanOsdale said 36 bids were given out, but some men are still in the process of coming up to his office to get their T-shirts and accept their bids.
As of Wednesday, 15 men had accepted bids from the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, 8 from the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and 7 from the Kappa Sigma fraternity. The Zeta Chi fraternity had yet to receive an accepted bid.
Jon Xenos, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity executive board adviser, said he’s going to encourage the new members to get involved around campus.
“I’d really like to see the new-member class stay very active on campus,” he said. “They’re a small class, but I think they’re very capable of doing great things.”
