The Baker University bowling team finished ninth out of 13 teams in the United States Bowling Congress Sectional Qualifier Saturday and Sunday in Euless,Texas, to finish the season.
“It wasn’t what I hoped the outcome would be,” head coach Cheryl Keslar said. “We played well on Saturday, but on Sunday we didn’t play that well. The team wasn’t picking up spares.”
Although the bowling season is over, the team is still practicing and gearing up for next season already.
“We held our heads up high on Sunday knowing we had a great season,” Keslar said. “We are disappointed, but this is just momentum the team needs for next season.”
During the offseason the bowlers are still going to participate in tournaments as a team and as individuals as well. The team will also get the chance to celebrate milestones from this past season, including a perfect game bowled during the sectional qualifier.
“Last week, junior Caitlin Campbell shot her first 300,” Keslar said.
As the team looks forward to next season, it also looks forward to the many recruits who will be coming to Baker next year.
“I’m very excited about the freshmen recruits for next year,” Keslar said.
