Student senate elections for executive board members and class officers for next year will begin Tuesday. Executive board elections will be held Tuesday and class officer elections will be held April 23.
Student senate works to voice the opinions of students on campus, and the president of student senate frequently meets with the president of the university and the board of trustees.
“It represents all the undergraduate students on campus, and it really does act as a middleman, a lot of student senators end up sitting on committees for the university that include faculty members and or staff members,” Dean of Students Cassy Bailey said.
The executive board is made up of a secretary, treasurer, public relations, vice president and president. Students can apply for both an executive board positions and class officer positions.
Many of the decisions made on the student senate committees include the participation of student senators, including class officers. Being a class officer provides a way for students who want to voice their opinion to be involved in the decision process for Baker.
Applications are available for both positions now and can be found online.
