The Baker women’s soccer team dropped its first match of the season on Aug. 30 to Southern Nazarene University 2-0 in Bethany, Okla.
With both teams receiving NAIA top 25 votes, expectations for a close, competitive game were high.
The temperatures were also extremely high, which head coach Nate Houser said certainly affected his team’s energy levels.
“Our willingness to play the way we know how wasn’t there; the heat definitely had an impact on us,” Houser said.
SNU junior forward Stephanie Royse notched the first goal of the game in the 14th minute of play. The insurance goal was tacked on in the 85th minute to end any hopes of a comeback for the Wildcats. The team hosts Bethel College tomorrow at 1 p.m.<br/>&#160;
