This month specifically through LeadHERship, the women’s leadership program, students can nominate influential women on the Baldwin City campus, whether they are students, faculty or staff.
LeadHERship works to empower women through different programs and events. Members have attended self-defense classes and read books that highlight women who have been empowered.
Brittany Reed, student coordinator of LeadHERship, has worked within the organization to create the Outstanding Women’s nomination for women. Students, faculty or staff can nominate any woman from the BU community who they feel is a positive role model.
“Some of the requirements are just how much they have impacted Baker’s campus and been a really good role model for Baker women,” Reed said. “People do a lot of hard work; this is just a way to give recognition to the women on campus.”
The deadline to nominate someone is April 30 and those who have been nominated will be announced May 1. Nominations can be sent to Reed or to Director of Student Life Brett Bruner. Nominations must include the name of person being nominated along with why they are a good role model and leader.
