On Saturday, 33 BU athletes were named NAIA Academic-All Americans in front of many of their friends and family at the annual Scholar’s Symposium.
To be eligible for this award, student–athletes must have met the following requirements: attainment of junior or senior status, earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, performance at the varsity level of his or her sport, nomination by the head coach of his or her intercollegiate sport and certification by the University Registrar and Athletics Director.
Senior Stacy Yowell was recognized for her involvement in women’s golf.
“It was a great honor. It meant that I achieved both of my goals while at Baker: to be a strong student in the classroom and a great player on the golf course,” Yowell said.
The football team had the most honorees with nine men recognized for their achievements.
The men’s soccer team also had seven men recognized for their on the field and off the field involvement. Men’s outdoor track and baseball each had five team members acknowledged.
