By feeding the hungry and donating free time to help out the community, Baker students are finding a niche for volunteering.
Saturday will be another event when a mixture of students will lend their afternoon to Harvesters Community Food Network in Topeka.
Harvesters has been helping the hungry since 1979 by collecting and distributing food and related household products.
Six students and Dean of Students Cassy Bailey will lend their services to the organization from noon to 5 p.m.
“I am so proud of the Baker community and all the energy around volunteering,” Bailey said. “I have no doubt that the group going to Harvesters will have a great time and will really make a difference.”
Among other volunteering opportunities, Baker hosted a volunteer fair, which featured 15 agencies and had more 100 students in attendance. The university also took part in the Amer-I-Can food drive in remembrance of Sept. 11.
