The Baker University men’s soccer team picked up the first victory of the season on Wednesday as the Wildcats defeated Park University at home 1-0.
Senior captain Nick Aguilar felt that the performance on the field was as good as it has been all season.
“We were able to keep the pressure and momentum in our favor throughout the game,” Aguilar said, “We played together as a team this game and finally got the chance we’ve been working for.”
The game was scoreless until the 66th minute when Aguilar broke the deadlock with a penalty kick past Pirate goalkeeper Ryan Miller.
Aguilar was excited to finally record a goal on the season and proud of his team’s progress.
“We’re getting there. It’s starting to feel how it should as far as mentality goes. We are getting better for sure,” Aguilar said.
The Wildcats proceed to 1-3-1 on the season and will have another chance to improve their record as they take on Hastings at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Liston Stadium.
