After their victory over Hastings on Saturday, the No. 9 Baker University women’s soccer team is on a 3-0 winning streak with an overall record of 4-1-1.
Just 13 minutes into the game, sophomore Ashley Mauck was fouled allowing Baker Orange photographer Jordan Dolbin a free kick from 20 yards out. Dolbin’s shot soared into the goal, right over Hasting’s goalkeeper Hannah Sendele.
Baker’s lead increased to 2-0 in the 64th minute of the game as freshman midfielder Shalynn Eldridge-McMillan picked up her first goal of the season.
Hastings answered shortly after as freshman forward Nicole Barnhardt made a goal to put the score at 2-1, but it wasn’t enough to slow Baker down as sophomore Alexa Fryer picked up her sixth goal of the season and put the game away 3-1.
Sophomore captain Shelby Schiraldi is very pleased with her team’s performance against Hastings.
“These first games have been a pretty good test, and I think they will show who we are going to be for the rest of the season.”
The Wildcats will put their winning streak on the line on Wednesday, September 19 as they take on the McPherson Bulldogs at Liston Stadium at 5 p.m.
