With 38 majors to choose from this year at Baker University, selecting a path of study can sometimes be an overwhelming process. To help students with that process, the fourth annual BU Majors Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Collins Center.
“The ultimate goal of the majors fair is to help students who may not be decided on their major or even their minor, connect with faculty and students to answer the questions that they might have,” Coordinator of Career Services Kelly Burns said.
The event is not limited to those without a path of study. The entire student body is welcome to come and browse the various majors and minors. Professors and students representing each major will be available to answer questions concerning the requirements of their particular major.
With many options to choose from, changing majors is common among underclassmen. Freshman Clarissa Courtney recently changed her status from a music major to undecided. Her concern for getting a job left her wondering which major would help her get the best possible career post graduation. She hopes that by visiting the majors fair she will be able to identify jobs that interest her.
“The majors fair should help me narrow it down so I can see what jobs are out there and hopefully make my decision easier,” Courtney said.
Freshman Cody Sunderland said the hardest thing about choosing a major is making a choice that will affect his life long-term.
