During its second tournament of the season, the Baker University bowling team took second place out of six teams in the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge Saturday and Sunday in Lawrence.<br/>
Two bowlers, sophomore Carly Schmidtlein and senior Caitlin Campbell, finished in the the top five for the Wildcats. Schmidtlein earned a fourth-place finish, followed by Campbell in fifth.
“We work a lot better as a team this year and we have more drive to win than we have in the other years,” Schmidtlein said. “We have all progressed and have gotten a lot better, while adding some skilled recruits this year.”
For Campbell, this tournament allowed her to make up for what she considered to be a disappointing season opener.
“Finishing fourth at this tournament really meant a lot because it meant that I could still (finish in the top 10) and overcome a bad performance my first tournament by practicing harder to accomplish my goals,” Campbell said.
The team will compete in its next tournament, the ISYL Leatherneck Classic, Saturday and Sunday in Milan, Ill.
