Different organizations will work together to host prospective students Friday and Saturday as part of the annual BU Weekend.
BU Weekend is an overnight visit opportunity open to high school students who are interested in Baker.
“It’s more just for the atmosphere,” Visit Experience Manager Cheryl McCrary said. “For meeting students (and) mingling with them. It’s not as formal; it’s more informal and fun.”
The students will arrive Friday evening and will be matched up with the sororities and fraternities on campus, which will be hosting the students Friday night. Several entertainment options are available for them, including a tour of all the greek houses, BU theater department’s presentation of “Robin Hood,” Student Activities Council’s event featuring national touring professional comedy group Mission Improvible and an ice cream social sponsored by Order of Omega.
On Saturday, University Admissions Assistants will lead tours for those students who have not yet been on campus.
Students will then have the opportunity to attend an activities and academics fair in Collins Center and then the football game against Graceland University at 1 p.m.
McCrary said last year more than 60 students attended the fall BU Weekend, and there were 101 students registered as of Tuesday.
“The thing that makes this visit great is all baker students, Greek and non-Greek,” McCrary said. “The UAAs do a great job, all the organizations and the faculty; we couldn’t do it without them.”
