During halftime of the Baker University women’s basketball game against Missouri Valley College Saturday, the Wildcats coaching staff had to do a double-take when looking at the team’s stats.

Did senior newcomer Rece Huddlin really have 14 rebounds in just the first 20 minutes?
Yes, in fact she did, and she would finish the game leading the team with 20 boards and 17 points.
The 5-11 forward is proud of herself but is mostly excited about the team’s victory.
“I don’t ever really keep track of my stats,” Huddlin said. “I heard I had about 14 rebounds in the first half, and I thought it was pretty cool, but I was just focused on playing the rest of the game and getting the win.”
Head coach Ben Lister is also pleased with Huddlin’s efforts, not only tonight, but every time she steps on the court.
“Rece is one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever been around,” Lister said. “From recruiting her in the past, I knew what kind of player she could be here. She’s really coming into her own here.”
Baker has played two Heart of America Athletic Conference opponents since the start of its regular season on Thursday.
Huddlin is averaging 16 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and four steals in conference play so far.
“I think that’s Conference Player of the Week worthy stats,” Lister said. “We are going to try and nominate her and see what happens there. Overall, I’m very pleased with her outstanding job on the glass today.”
