In the first matchup against William Jewell College since the Cardinals left the Heart of America Athletic Conference, the Baker University men’s basketball team fell to the Cardinals 80-51 Saturday in Liberty, Mo. in an exhibition game.
The Wildcats trailed William Jewell 29-24 at halftime, but the Cardinals scored 10 unanswered points to begin the second half and BU could not recover.
The Cardinals made 12 3-pointers to the Wildcats’ three and had four players score in double figures.
Freshman Carson Sonnenberg was the high scorer for the Wildcats with 11 points.
Baker shot 36 percent from the field and 30 percent from behind the arc while knocking down 12 of 25 shots from the charity stripe.
Since the game was an exhibition matchup, it will not count toward either team’s record.
The Wildcats, 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the HAAC, will have a 15-day break before playing Harris-Stowe State University at 4 p.m. Dec. 29 in Collins Center.
