After two-straight conference losses, the Baker University women’s basketball team bounced back by dominating Graceland University 78-40 Saturday in Lamoni, Iowa.
In spite of the 27 turnovers they gave up, the Wildcats displayed one of their best defensive performances of the season.
Graceland was held to a shooting average of 22 percent from the field, and Baker outrebounded the Yellowjackets 60-28, 12 of which came from senior Rece Huddlin.
Huddlin also scored nine points during the game, right behind sophomore Rashida Simpson and junior Ciarra Washington, who each led the team with 12 points apiece.<br/>
While the Wildcats scored 39 points in both the first and second halves, they held the Yellowjackets to 13 points in the first half and 27 in the second.
The Wildcats are now 4-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and 11-7 on the season. Graceland fell to 0-7 in the conference and 2-13 overall.
Baker will be on the road again Thursday in Atchison for its next conference matchup against Benedictine College at 5:30 p.m.
