Loud Noises, Baker University’s improvisational comedy troupe, hosted auditions for potential new members recently. However, due to scheduling conflicts, the auditions are not over yet and students still have a chance to become a part of the troupe.

“Auditions are laid back, like rehearsals,” co-captain Teresa Morse said. “We play games with a mix of existing and new members to see how they fit in.”
On the last day of auditions, the existing members will vote on which of the auditioning students will make the cut. The following day the students who auditioned will find out the results.
Morse said the team plays games of basic structure which is a short form of improv. Each game lasts five to seven minutes and the team works with the audience’s suggestions.
“I have enjoyed watching Loud Noises because they always have a good time,” freshman Aaron Greenbaum said. “There are various senses of humor within the troupe and this helps widen the appeal.”
Members who served as active alternates last semester are typically grandfathered into the troupe. Freshman Dante Simmons was an alternate last year but plans to appear in more shows this semester.
“I’ve always kind of been into theater and acting and so I heard about this and I thought it’d be fun, so I tried out,” Simmons said.
The troupe plans to perform three times on campus this semester. One show will be halfway into the semester and the final two will be during finals week.
