The Baker University theater department will produce its final play of the school year, “Boeing Boeing,” Thursday-Sunday in Rice Auditorium.
The play is about an American architect named Bernard, who lives in Paris. “Boeing Boeing” is centered around his three different fiancées who all work as flight attendants. Each flight attendant has a different flight schedule, which benefits Bernard at first because he is able to see each one without the others knowing.
That all changes when Bernard’s friend, Robert, visits from the United States.
One fiancée’s flight gets turned back, another surprises him and the third is still there, which leaves Bernard in a scramble to make sure they all don’t find out his secret.
Freshman Taylor Winkler thought this play was going to be a lot of fun and auditioned to see what would happen.
“I really like how bouncy and fun the play is,” Winkler said. “I love the constant stream of never having a moment’s peace. Everyone is either coming or going, and Robert is just in constant awe of everything going on.”
The play does bring a certain upbeat atmosphere, and the fake accents mixed with chaos create an interesting plot.
Sophomore Adriane Dick, who plays Bernard’s Italian fiancée, thought the play would be a good experience to gain more in-depth acting skills.
“The audience should expect a quick pace for this play,” Dick said. “From each fiancée going in and out to all three fiancées having big personalities, and then overall, the play being hilarious, I really think it will be a fun time.”
Sophomore Jillian Miller is ready for another funny production that will leave the audience literally laughing out loud from the constant chaos going on.
“My favorite part of the play is the accents that multiple characters use,” Miller said. “They make it more challenging for sure, but it is a fun challenge that everyone rises up to.”
The productions will start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday- Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
