A: What I am most looking forward to about the job I got is the opportunities that I’ll have to travel all over the United States and also having the chance to go work in Europe. One of the things I was looking for in a job is the ability to be able to relocate or travel for the company. Kiewit offered me this along with other benefits that caught my attention, such as masters programs and extended education.
Q: How did you get a connection with the Kiewit?Q: How did you get a connection with the Kiewit? Q: How did you get a connection with the Kiewit?
A: My formal connection with the company came when I met them at the KU Career Fair back in September. I met Jimmy Nolan, who is a Baker graduate working at the company, and he asked me to apply. From there I did the formal application, got a phone and onsite interview and in the end was offered a job. Even with other offers, this job sounded like something I wanted to do because it provided me with a lot of different opportunities I was looking for in a job.
Q: What will your job actually entail?Q: What will your job actually entail? Q: What will your job actually entail?
A: I will be a business manager for Kiewit. I will be handling the financing and investing activities on numerous projects, along with accounting and administration work.
Q: What is something you learned from Baker that will help you with your career?Q: What is something you learned from Baker that will help you with your career? Q: What is something you learned from Baker that will help you with your career?
A: Something I have learned from Baker is the concept of time management. Being involved with numerous organizations, getting an education and playing a varsity sport, I have learned how to allocate my time to multiple engagements. It has taught me how to allow myself to get all my work done and commit my full potential to more than one activity.
