The Baker University softball team defeated Benedictine College 7-0 in the opening round of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament Sunday before falling to MidAmerica Nazarene University 2-1 in a semifinal matchup at the Blue Valley Recreation Complex in Overland Park.
The Wildcats took control over the Ravens by scoring once in the first inning, twice in the third and four times in the fourth to win 7-0.
Sophomore Alyse Menghini led the Wildcats’ offense with a 2-run home run in the fourth inning and with three total RBIs. Juniors Erin Greenwood and Renata Dill also added three hits apiece.

BU scored its lone run in the sixth inning as Greenwood drove in Dill with an RBI single, but fell to MNU 2-1.
Greenwood went the distance again for the Wildcats, giving up two runs on six hits and striking out seven in six innings.
The Pioneers advanced to play top-seeded Central Methodist University in the HAAC Championship game, but lost to the Eagles 19-8.
