‘Cats upset No. 6 Concordia University Irvine

Story by Lauren Bechard

The Baker University men’s soccer team made its way to Lebanon, Ill., on Sunday, where it fell to NCAA Division II McKendree University 2-0.

The loss came just two days after the Wildcats celebrated their first home win of the season against No. 6 Concordia University Irvine.

Baker upset the Eagles in their season opener, but the 1-0 win came with patience.

The Wildcats posted up a strong defense throughout the back-and-forth battle, allowing only five shots during the game, none on goal.

It wasn’t until the 81st minute of the game that Baker would find its way past the Concordia defense and sophomore Amer Didic would get his head on the ball, sending it into the back of the net to score the game-winning goal.

The ‘Cats took eight shots with three on goal, two of which came from Didic.

After the weekend, Baker now holds a 2-3-1 record on the season. The team will hit the road again on Wednesday to take on Park University at 7 p.m.
