Baldwin Diner extends drive-through hours

Starting last Thursday, the Baldwin Diner opted to extend its drive-through hours for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The drive-through now closes at midnight instead of 9 p.m.

“(We are) just trying to boost sales right now definitely, appeal to the masses and to college students for sure,” Chris Nunez, general manager and part owner, said.

Nunez hopes the flyers he posted on campus and word of mouth will be enough advertising.

”People (have to) get used to it. I think eventually it will pick up,” Cook Manager Martin McDonald said.

The late-night menu includes burgers, grilled cheese with bacon or ham, breakfast burritos, onion rings and fountain drinks.

“We’re going to actually add more things as we go along, like meatball subs, things that are not on the actual menu,” Nunez said. “We may eventually stay open until 1 or 2 (a.m.)”

McDonald said one of the goals for this change is to stay as busy as they can.
