Executive team recruits new ELS students
With numerous posters around campus, Director of Student Life Randy Flowers and an executive team have been working to get the word out about the Emerging Leaders Summit.
ELS is an overnight leadership workshop designed for first-year Baker students. The registration deadline is Oct. 11 and the retreat is planned for Nov. 8-9.
βIn terms of getting the word out, I would say we are aggressively recruiting more than we ever have,β Flowers said.
Members of the executive team are attending Salon classes to help promote the event. Flowers said he has also reached out and encouraged faculty to nominate students they believe should attend the retreat.
ELS is free for the selected students and is held at Camp Chippewa in Ottawa. Students who attend receive a t-shirt, and meals are provided.
ELS Executive Director Lauren Williams said 48 spots are available, and she said she would love to have more than that apply. Based on previous feedback, the executive team has made small changes to the curriculum.
βI think one thing we are trying to focus on this year is bringing more diversity into (the retreat),β Williams said.
