The No. 21 Baker University women’s basketball team continued its four-game win streak against Evangel University on Saturday in Collins Center.

Senior BriAnna Garza made the first of two free throws with :02 seconds remaining to seal the 78-76 victory over the Crusaders. Garza, who averages more than 13 points per game and leads the Wildcats in scoring, chipped in 15 points during the Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup. Senior Shea Shoemaker, sophomore Macy Wallisch and junior Rashida Simpson joined Garza in double figures.

While the Wildcats spread the ball, Evangel relied heavily on the play of center Allison Swanson. The 6-foot-3-inch freshman tied her career high, posting 26 points against Baker’s defense.

With the win, Baker improved to 13-5 on the season and 6-1 in HAAC play. BU sits in second in the conference standings, trailing No. 5 MidAmerica Nazarene University. The remaining HAAC teams have recorded three or more conference losses.

BU will be back on the road Thursday against Peru State College. The Bobcats are 2-5 in conference play and 4-13 on the season. The matchup is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
