The Baker University softball team split its series with Benedictine College Wednesday on senior day.

The Wildcats won game one 4-3, but the Ravens came back to shut out Baker 10-0 in game two.

Senior Cami Williams hit a two-run home run right away in game one, giving Baker an early 2-0 lead. Freshman Lucy Staats was the only other Wildcat to record an RBI, after she doubled down the left-field line in the sixth inning. Sophomore pitcher Mallorie Nelson recorded the win.

However, game two gave the Wildcats their largest loss of the entire season, as the Ravens rallied 10 runs off 13 hits. Williams, senior Alyse Menghini, Nelson, Staats and senior Tara Chumley all had hits in game two, but were unable to score any runs. Freshman pitcher Katt Cooper took the loss.

Five seniors were honored before the games as they celebrated their last games on Cavaness Field. The seniors were Chumley, Renata Dill, Menghini, Brooke Plummer and Williams.

This ends regular season play for the ‘Cats, giving them an overall record of 20-22 and 11-8 in conference play. The team will next play in the HAAC tournament May 1-3 in Overland Park.
