Lumberyard gallery features portraits of Kansans
The Lumberyard art gallery is currently displaying oil-painting portraits of Kansans by Sonia Reeder-Jones.
The treasurer of the Lumberyard Arts Center, Sandy Cardens, said Reeder-Jones usually paints portraits from different angles and in different ways than most portraits.
The vividly-painted portraits are of Kansans from the young to the old. One painting depicts an old man, John, with aviator goggles on his head and mouth open, while another shows a young girl in a dress leaning on a table.
The gallery reception will be Aug. 30 at the Lumberyard Arts Center. At the same time will be the third Art Walk and the Summer Concert Series’ bands playing downtown. The gallery, open as of Aug. 15, will close on Sept. 13.
