College Kitchen: Make your own pizza

Ingredients:

  • Pizza crust mix (we decided to make our own, but you can also buy pre-made ones)
  • Pizza sauce
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Pepperoni
  • Black olives
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese

Utensils:

  • Medium sized mixing bowl
  • Pizza pan
  • Fork
  • Oven mitts
  • Cutting board (for chopping up any toppings you want).

*Optional: turn on some cooking jams (ours was the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack.)

Step 1

Pour pizza crust mix into bowl and add ½ cup water. Mix contents. *Highly recommended: add dash of parmesan to mix.

Step 2

Roll dough into ball, add olive oil, and brush the oil so a thin layer covers the entire ball of dough. Then cover the bowl with a paper towel and let set for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Mold dough with hands (you may choose to toss it up like the fancy pizzeria chefs do) and then press dough into pan, making sure to cover the entire surface.

Step 4

Take a fork and prick the dough several times all over, as seen in the picture. Then put the dough in the oven to bake for 5 minutes at 425 degrees.

Step 5

Take the crust out of the oven and spread the pizza sauce over the entire thing, leaving ½ inch to 1 inch of crust sauce-free. Then sprinkle on Parmesan and mozzarella cheese and decorate with your favorite toppings (we used pepperoni and black olives.)

Step 6

Place pizza in oven for another 9 to 11 minutes at 425° Fahrenheit, or until crust is golden brown.

Step 7

Take pizza out of oven and cut into pieces (we cut it into 8 pieces.) Serve and enjoy.
