Two road wins give the women’s soccer team a 7-1-0 record, including the first conference win of the season.

The Wildcats first defeated Hastings College 3-2 on Sept. 15 in Hastings, Nebraska, then traveled to Fayette, Missouri, on Sept. 19 to earn the first conference win of the season against Central Methodist University 2-0.

Hastings started the game strong scoring in the 4′ and 14′. However, Baker’s junior Jessica Hillebert put the Wildcats on the board before halftime.

The second half was a close one. Each team took six shots, but Baker was able to tie the game in the 75′ when junior Krista Hooper put the ball in the back of the net. Just three minutes later, sophomore Megan Johnson scored the game winner off of an assist from junior Katie Hibbeler. 3-2 was the final from Hastings, avenging a 1-1 draw in 2013.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Hunt made two saves in goal to keep the ‘Cats ahead and earn the come-from-behind victory.

In the first conference game of the season, Baker dominated the Central Methodist Eagles.

Baker had 19 total shots and put 11 of them on frame. Hibbeler and junior Keeley Atkin led the team with four shots each. Central Methodist had only five shots all game.

In the 20′, sophomore Kady Dieringer gave the ‘Cats the lead. In the second half, Atkin put Baker on the board again, ensuring the win. Sophomore Taylor Yates had both of the assists.

Hunt made three saves and Baker earned its fourth shutout of the season.

Conference action resumes on Wednesday, Oct. 23, when the Wildcats will host Evangel University at Liston Stadium.
