Alumni trip to celebrate 500th Harlaxton student
For the first time, in the 25 year relationship between Harlaxton College and Baker University, there will be an alumni reunion trip.
This trip is being held not only for former study abroad students to reminisce about their time, but also to celebrate the 500th student being sent to Harlaxton.
“It really is something to celebrate,” Director of Study Abroad and Harlaxton Coordinator Robyn Long, said. “Once you’ve been, you spend the rest of your life remembering and wishing to relive it.”
In August, Long suggested the trip to Martha Harris, assistant dean of the college of arts and sciences. Eventually, a proposal was sent to Harlaxton for approval.
The trip will be held during a four-day period from June 27 to July 1, 2016. The alumni will spend their time at Harlaxton and the surrounding areas. One of the most notable visits will be to Sproxton, England, where Baker’s own Clarice L. Osborne Memorial Chapel once resided
In addition to Sproxton, the alumni will visit the English cities of Leicester and Lincoln, where many alumni visited during their first Harlaxton experience.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the people reconnect with their meet-a-families at the garden party,” Long said.
Long hopes that this program will continue on into the future and become a tradition so that this “the first of many Harlaxton alumni trips.”
